OPEN MIND

“People attending church for the first time” – Pastor Young Joo Lee

There are many young people who have never been to a church that register at ours. Additionally, there are also others who come to our church after many years away from faith. Whatever the reason, I am so grateful and happy to see them find their way back to church and I hope they settle down well, wishing all cells will welcome them warmly as our new family.

I started attending church steadily when I was in the third year of secondary school, and it was while studying the bible in the first year of university that I really believed in Jesus. In a way, I had been attending without faith for more than 3 years. I was not very interested in the bible study which the youth pastor taught so I avoided class. After attending church like this for about 3 years, I started to get curious about the existence of God and I went up to a hill to pray alone, saying to myself that I would like to meet him if he was really there.

I eventually was able to believe in Jesus and become a pastor because of those years when the church friends and family warmly welcomed and took care of me when I was lonely. Likewise, there are many newcomers that are in a similar situation and I believe they will also be able to meet God and start a new life within Him.

Jesus once explained a man’s heart with the parable of the farmer scattering seed on 4 different fields. The farmer scattered seeds on a footpath, shallow soil, thorns and fertile soil. Among these, the most problematic land is the footpath as the birds came and ate it. “When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path” (Matthew 13:19)

If you are a person not interested in the Word of God, it may not matter as much but Satan seemed to have believed that the proven Word had great power. Isn’t that the reason why he tried to take the Word and get rid of it? If you pay a little attention and listen to the Bible, anyone can have faith.

So, for those who are new to church, I would like to create a gathering where one can ask anything about the Bible. How great would it be if the meeting let you to believe in Jesus and lead you to get baptised? By joining a cell group, adapting to church life will be much easier.

Even if a pastor leads this meeting, it would be great to see existing youth members join us. Although this would mean leaving their existing cell group, it would still be as rewarding to serve others. I hope we can start this meeting as soon as we get another full-time minister next year and ask you to join us in prayer. I hope that our church is welcoming to all that who wants to join.
