Greetings of longing and peace in Christ. The memories of the GVC (God’s Vision Church) gathering in November were particularly memorable and special for me and my wife. Personally, at a time when I was physically exhausted from the pressure of service, I was curious about ‘the’ reason God sent me exactly at this time. The first uniqueness of GVC that came to my mind was that the GVC was not a compromise-driven community that merely adapted to surrounding circumstances. A church with a clear calling is unique because it transcends and overcomes surrounding circumstances.
Secondly, my encounter with Pastor Lee was special. We had quite a few conversations in the car going to and from the church. The stories of God’s calling to the UK church and multiculturalism, the pastoral journey accompanied by doctrinal purity and the vigour of the gospel was evident. The mindset and dedication to shepherding young believers as a spiritual father was also beautiful. While I didn’t have the opportunity to hear Pastor Lee’s sermons as a speaker, the clear invitation and challenge he demonstrated at the beginning and end of each worship was very impressive. Meeting a good pastor is something naturally given in everyone’s life.
Third, the dedication and affection of young believers were special. Today’s society tends to classify the younger generation by alphabet (i.e., MZ generation). However, those who encounter Jesus know that they cannot simply be classified according to age and cultural preferences. You are living proof of this. Even in a few days, I could feel each individual’s dedication beyond age, reverence for the gospel, and the dignity of pure service. Christians armed with both professional expertise and linguistic abilities can only be special.
During the gathering, I had the wish that God would provide a good physical cite for worship. I discussed with Pastor Lee how our companions could build a church for the “Vision of Diaspora” (Diaspora: spreading God’s word farther and beyond its current place). London, a mega-city, is not an easy place with the best conditions, but I thought it was a goal that God could certainly achieve by placing a desire in us. Suddenly, like a passing remark, I offered to make a donation for the construction of a church building. There seems to be no false promise and desire between myself and God. When I returned to Germany and prayed, the desire did not leave me. I promptly offered in obedience of His will. I hope to be a small stepping stone for God’s temple. I think God’s desire for Diaspora is special for me as much as for all of you.
In 2023, we have been pursuing a platform serving Diaspora with the slogan “For Jesus, with the Gospel.” God has noticed such an effort and blessed the saints’ workplaces and homes even in hardship. In 2024, we have adopted the slogan “The Race of Faith, Patience and Glory.” We will pray together, dream, and purse the revival of the GVC and for the beautiful place of worship that our Lord will allow. I cherish the beautiful triangle of blessings. I send love and blessings to all of you heading towards the glorious new year. Jehovah Jireh!
