We started Saturday Evangelism again last week. I thought I wouldn’t be able to make the first one, but fortunately I was able to due to a schedule change. I was excited and happy to go evangelizing, which I was more grateful. It is only surprising that evangelizing has become something that I want to do beyond burden and responsibility.
I woke up early in the morning. Usually, I wake up early to complete weekly service sheets, but as it was the first day of evangelism that had been stopped, I wanted to prepare it with prayer and asked God for grace. I left home earlier as I wanted to look around Leicester Square as a place of praise, like we used to before, rather than Oxford Street, which is near the church.
There weren’t that many people in the tube, and Leicester Square was not very crowded as it was early in the day. However, as there were still a decent amount of people, I decided to go with Leicester Square for Saturday Evangelism. After passing through Chinatown, I followed the usual alley – where we used to spread the gospel – to the church. Pastor Park and mission team leader Ji Yong already arrived.
We had 30 minutes of prayer together, and in the meantime, all the mission team members gathered on by one. A total of 11 team members were divided into three teams and did the mission work for about an hour. On the way to alley, we met several people and shared the gospel of Jesus Christ. I teamed up with Ms. Lim and Ms. Kwon, and I did my best with joy to spread the gospel.
After talking with people on the street, we went to Leicester Square to join the praise team and finished the mission with one last praise. When we were sharing our thoughts and feelings at the end, Chan Young said, “it was comfortable as if we had evangelized until yesterday.” That really was true. It was comfortable if I had always evangelized, and I was happy as if I had come where I should be.
Then we ate together at a nearby dim sum restaurant. It is known as a hidden gem among Chinese people, and it was also a place we often visited after mission works. It was even more nice to meet the mission team face-to-face, after meeting them only in online.
My heart was burning and overwhelmed when I delivered Jesus Christ at the street today. It was a precious time when I wanted to be a person who knows him more, loves him, and spreads his message more. I want to share this joy with our church members.
“Lord, please lead the Saturday mission well.”
