OPEN MIND

“London God’s Vision Church” – Hyuk Kang (Korean Cell Leader)

Where should you go, by the time you come out of the dark and narrow room to the middle of the light in the world? After staying on the side of the road for a long time, my steps headed to a church. I found the nearest church where I was standing and found the pastor there. Rev. Young Joo Lee’s hands, who held my hands, were very warm.

After that, I attended the church every week. I sat down on a same seat every time. I vowed not to make that seat empty by going in and sitting down. Whenever I worshiped on Wednesday and Sunday, I sat there and prayed. Prayer. I learned the power of prayer from the church. There were also other Christians, who come to the church with bright faces. Their greetings and meetings were so gentle and peaceful that I wondered if the light of a person’s face could be so beautiful that I had never seen before.

There was no gateway to entering the church from the beginning. It was neither complicated nor too far away. It was the safest and most complete house. The hymn was too precious a song of words, and the Bible was not a heavy and thick book, but a light that gradually made me realize and melted my heart that had been hard and heavy. Every day, the stairs to the church were always like stairs to heaven. There, peace, grace, and love – things that had only been known abstractly, were realized. It was the only place where I could breathe and became as precious as my home and precious as my organs.

I had to leave for London to succeed. The rich dream of learning more and learning abroad made me know the church, know prayer, meet community, and believe in Jesus. Is there a better way to study abroad? Life in London over the past year became the standard of my life. I want to continue to know God and see the words. And when I lived as he said, I realized that my life was not sick or lonely.

When I returned to Korea with Galatians 2:20, and as my longing for God’s Vision Church grew, I entered the Korean cell group and received the grace of serving as the head of the cell after six months. We had precious times of meditating on words together, studying and praying for the Bible. Among them, it is a grateful community where we cried and laughed together. Today, I would have the last cell leader meeting at 5 a.m. Korean time. What I’ve learned for past 10 months is so valuable.

“Thank you, God, for continuing to teach and constantly guiding us in good faith even when we are in Korea. And I love God’s Vision Church. I learned a lot from the church why knowing God, believing in Jesus, and accompanying the Lord with the Holy Spirit is important, why I am happy, and why I should stay focused. I want to be an evangelist who shares this learning with my neighbors around me in Korea and also has a dream of preaching the gospel with pictures. I pray in Jesus’ name that it will surely happen. Amen.”
