From the start of this year, I had shared three visions for our church. These were Christians at Work meetings, building a multicultural church and diaspora mission. Since we have started praying as a church, God has connected me to many people. For example, a pastor working with the Business as Mission group (BAM), Professor at Yeonsei University working on church planting and a Christian CEO of a global company.
At our Easter Retreat centre, I also met a pastor of a Romanian church who told me he had studied 2 years at a Korean Methodist Theological University and is currently preparing for his doctorate degree. We have agreed to meet again. These are only a few among many other connections I have been blessed with such as pastors with Ethiopian, Hong Kong, Pakistan, and Arab backgrounds.
With the continuing mind to meet more churches of other nations, I visited a Korean church in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia last week to lead a series of worship conferences. At the conference, I met one successful businessman who converted to Christianity after Jesus came to him one night in his sleep. He prayed every day and started a group to support people in business within the area. While the group only started with 13 people, it has now grown hugely including important members with pollical and economic influences. We have also agreed to meet in London again.
I was also able to have many conversations with Missionary Hyochol Ahn who has supported the Korean church in Malaysia to revive from 10 to 60 members during the last 7 months. He shared his mission stories for the past 10 years in Asia including retreats for missionaries and their children and we talked of young leaders who could help our church’s vision to building a multicultural church.
Today, we will hold our first official Christians at Work meeting after service. The initial meeting will be within cell groups giving the chance of Christians in various sectors to talk and build ideas on the vision together. I hope the meeting will allow our church to share and discuss not only how to practice God’s words within different areas, but to be supportive of one another and provide helpful information and guidance.
As this is a new step for our church, I hope to continue to develop and build the meetings and later support other churches with the same. As always, God guides our church to come together and to continue to follow His words. Let’s build together.
