There are many religions in the world, and there are people who created them. Who made Buddhism? A man named Gautama Siddhartha-Buddha Buddha. What about Islam? Muhammad. Although they are both teachers and visionaries, they are not saviours This is because they only taught people how we should live but they did not or could not do anything to save us.

Jesus is different. Similarly, Jesus also gave a lot of teachings, however, he died on the cross instead of us so we could live by his teachings, and he also gave to those who believed in Him, the Holy Spirit.

I often say this to the people I meet on the streets on Saturday’s evangelism. “I realised during my lifetime, that the most important thing that I really needed was not a teacher or prophet to tell me good things but rather a helper that can help me keep them”. Sometimes it is hard to even love the people closest to you, even your family. So, the thing that people need the most, is not a teacher but a saviour and that is Jesus alone.

If Jesus came as a perfect teacher or prophet, we would have to be on high alert. It’s because teachers make sure one follows their instructions properly. Therefore, if you do not keep them, it can become a problem. But since Jesus came as a saviour, it is okay to have flaws and have a vulnerable heart. It is okay to stumble and fall and be frightened of the future because Jesus came as our saviour. If you go forward to him, he will welcome you with open arms.

You must ask yourself. Do I need a teacher or a prophet? Or a saviour? Are you confident that you will live well without anyone’s help? Are you confident of overcoming anxiety, loneliness, hurt, hate and all the bad things in this world? Even if a person can do this, are you confident that this person will live fully enough to pass his righteous standard on Judgement Day?

I am not confident. The more I live, the more vulnerable I feel, and the more I realise I need a saviour. The thing that is most needed for everyone, is a saviour. In 2025, we will need Jesus and He will be the saviour for all of us.

Jesus is the only saviour of this world. If he hadn’t come, we would all have perished. Instead, he came to this world to be our eternal saviour. So, Jesus can only be the best news to all of us and therefore we need to spread this good news to all that Jesus was born in this world. Let us be happy that he was born and let the world know that he is the saviour.
